On October 2, St Mary’s English Higher Primary School joyfully celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with a special prayer service led by the students of class 7A. The event held at 9 AM, paid a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and his timeless messages of peace, unity and non-violence.
The event began with an introduction, explaining the significance of Gandhi Jayanti. This was followed by scripture readings from the Bible, Quran and Bhagavat Gita. Students dressed in traditional religious attire, symbolized Gandhi’s vision of interfaith harmony and the unifying power of peace. A reflection on the teachings from these scriptures emphasized peace and non-violence, values central of Gandhi’s philosophy.
A special prayer song for peace was sung and students highlighted the scriptures’ teachings on ‘Peace in the Nation”. They also reflected on the importance of Gandhi Jayanti, linking Gandhi’s values to the present day.
As a part of the ceremony, Mahatma Gandhi's photograph was decorated with a garland and flowers as a mark of respect. This symbolic gesture of honoring Gandhi added depth to the ceremony, showcasing the students' reverence and admiration for the Father of the Nation.
The event concluded with three songs in Kannada, English and Hindi, all performed in Gandhi's honor. These musical tributes highlighted his immense contributions to India and the world uniting students in a celebration of his legacy. The whole programme was compered by Anushka of class VII A under the guidance of Trs. Veera and Plabita.
Shramadhan was conducted to keep up the day, by the Scouts and Guides. They gave priority towards environment by cleaning the campus in and out.
St. Mary's School proudly honoured Gandhi's memory, encouraging the next generation to live by his values of peace, tolerance and unity.
