In an effort to promote environmental sustainability and instill a sense of responsibility among students "St Mary's English Higher Primary school“ organized “SEASON OF CREATION” from 5 September to 5 October.
Different classes were assigned with different tasks. On September 5th classes 5 to 7 took the lead in a unique sapling plantation initiative. Nearly 120 to 150 enthusiastic students brought saplings to school, each making a personal commitment to nurture their plants at home.
Continuing the spirit of ecological stewardship, on 6 September, a team of 29 boys of Class 7A, on 13 September 30 boys of class 7B and 68 both boys and girls of class IV B, on 28 September 25 to 30 both boys and girls of class V AB took part in a campus cleaning activity during the activity period. The students worked diligently to clear both the interior and exterior of the school premises ensuring that St Mary’s campus remained a clean, welcoming environment for all.
The students of classes IV B an III AB were guided to create reusable bags using old newspapers. This initiative was taken up to discourage the use of plastic bags.
The growing concern over environmental pollution has led to increased efforts to clean up waste and promote recycling. So, the students of class IV A collected the chocolate wrappers to dispose it properly from all the classes from 1 to 7, which are non-biodegradable.
Class 6 students were encouraged in making use of plastic bottles as decorative piece or flowering pot to plant the saplings and reduce the usage of plastic bottles for storing water.
The Art of Upcycling
Our young minds are encouraged to ‘Save Mother Earth’ by reusing and recycling our waste materials.
