St. Mary’s English Higher Primary School held its Dance n Drill Display on 28 November 2023, at 8.45 am, on the school ground. All students and their guardians attended this ceremony. The school orchestra and band were in attendance.
The school ground shrugged off its cold morning embrace and woke up to a rousing sporting spectacle saturated with a riot of drill displays. A dignified silence enveloped the stands as the spectators were literally overawed by the gracious presence of the Chief Guest Commander Claud Lobo.
Chief Guest Commander Claud Lobo, the Commanding Officer Naval NCC Unit Mangalore, Sr. Maria Kripa A.C. the Joint Secretary, Sr. Maisie A.C. our beloved Headmistress, Mrs. Rekha, the PTA Vice President, all the Heads of the Institutions, PTA Executive members, invited guests, parents, staff, and students were present when the celebrations got underway at around 8.45 a.m.
The students invoked God’s Blessings through a prayer song. The dignitaries were welcomed with a gracious dance by class 7B having a happy smiling faces.
The tiny tots presented their talents and skills. Class 1A with Umbrella dance, Class 1B Hat dance, Class 2A Pom Pom, Class 2B Rainbow highlighting their uses with protection and also signifying diversity and harmony.
The dignitaries who had gathered for the programme were welcomed and introduced by Headmistress Sr. Maisie A.C. with a bouquet of Flowers.
The Dance n Drill Display of the school was a time for celebration, felicitation and festivity. Students gave outstanding performances, and those who excelled in curricular and co-curricular activities were recognised and rewarded for their efforts.
The Chief Guest addressed the august gathering with an invocation from the Holy scripture Genesis 1:1. He emphasized on the notion that children embody God’s finest craftsmanship displaying their intrinsic beauty as radiant stars adorned with sparkling brilliance.
The Dance and Drill Display continued with Class 3 A Flower dance enchanting garden where natures beauty is on full display, Class 3 B Bamboo stick conveying the message of unity, adjustment and co-operation. Class 4 A Hula Hoop representing freedom, joy and happiness, Class 4 B Magic stick taking back to memory lane of life, Class 5 A Fire with a message ‘Light dispels darkness’, Class 5 B Air, one of the most vital resources, Class 6 A water, made to realize the divine force of water, Class 6 B Save trees bringing the natural beauty to life, Class 7 A Universe place of wonder and curiosity, highlighting fascinating facts, Class 6 AB (boys) Cricket exhibited a remarkable fusion of coordination, energy and enthusiasm and Class 7 AB (boys) Pyramid with the spirit of unity, adjustment, concentration and dedication.
To express the sentiments of gratitude in a special way Anisha Lobo, Ansh Rego, Olga Pinto and Vinola D’lima proposed the vote of thanks. The budding Nightingales of St. Mary’s touched the hearts of audience with a thank you song.
Overall, the Dance and Drill Display fostered a positive relationship between parents, the school, and their children, enabling them to recognise and enjoy their child's talent. It was a successful event that warmed everyone's hearts. The whole programme was compered by Sherlyn Mascarenhas, Hajira Musba class 7, Rishon D’souza and Nuha Naseeha class 4, thank the students for their wonderful performance, parents for their love, cooperation and support.
